Radiator Failure 101

Radiator Failure 101

A customer returned this Nissan Forklift radiator recently claiming it had failed due to poor quality.

It had been fitted for a few hours before it leaked. He didn’t happen to mention it was almost round and full of the brown oily goo which is what happens when engine oil, combustion gasses and coolant mix together.
Classic sign of head gasket failure.

Imagine the enormous pressures required to deform the radiator to this extent? Certainly a lot more than the 15-20 psi it was designed to operate at.

We explained that unless the engine is repaired it will continue to blow any replacement radiator.
